I like reading. I always have one book on my reading table. I read on a lot of different topics, fiction is not what I read the most but I enjoy them very much.

I was my first time reading Haruki Murakami, I've heard good things about this author.

Killing Commendatore is one of those books that will stay on my mind for a very long time. It starts off as a simple story, an artist trying to find his way after a divorce. Then things get a little strange. Well, very strange.

Even though the story stays relatively simple throughout the book, I couldn't seem to be able to put the book down. The pace of the story is slow, but what would normally turn out into a long read was captivating. The way Murakami describes things always seems to be purposeful. I would describe it similar to looking at a relatively simple painting but the more you look at it the more you notice the intricate tiny details and you can't stop yourself from getting immerse into the seemingly simple painting.

From the start, I instantly felt a connection with the main character. I could relate to a lot of his actions and thoughts. I found his pondering about his art, his paintings, to be insightful. I'll probably never look at paintings the same.

In the end, the combination of simple elements, mystery, and weird just makes this book magical.

Go get it and read it.

J'aime lire.
