That's not me. Though, I love the idea of traveling light. I just don't have the willpower. I'm currently preparing for a few days of photography and I can't, for the life of me, leave a single lens behind. It's heartbreaking. I can leave my kid and wife at home no problem but lenses have to come with me :)
At least, I don't own too much gear. I have the gear to cover almost all situations and I have no gimmicky things that I don't use. I use what I own.
But preparing for a photography trip where we don't have anything planned, just exploring, makes it hard to pick ahead of time what I will be using the most.
I plan on mostly using my 25mm for city photography, I'll try to keep light for that. It'S an odd choice, my cheapest manual lens but I love the vignette and softness of the lens. It creates vintage-looking images that I like and the manual focusing forces me to take my time more.
Now for the rest, I'll have to decide on the spot what I do. Even though I can squeeze all my lenses in my camera bag, I'd like to keep things light and limit my lens choices so that I don't change all the time.
Can you travel light? If you were to only bring one lens on a trip, which one would it be?
Keeping your gear light and comfortable while not being bothered by too many choices is a very good way to go, it's just hard to leave the door that way. What do you think?
Ce n'est pas moi ce photographe, bien que j'aime l'idée de voyager léger. Mais je n'en ai pas la volonté. Je suis actuellement en train de préparer quelques jours de photographie et je ne peux pas laisser un seul objectif derrière moi. C'est déchirant. Je peux laisser ma filles et ma femme à la maison sans problème, mais les objectifs doivent venir avec moi :)
Au moins, je ne possède pas trop de matériel. J'ai tout le nécessaire pour couvrir presque toutes les situations, et je n'ai pas de gadgets dont je ne me sers pas. J'utilise ce que je possède.
Mais la préparation d'un voyage photographique où nous n'avons rien de spécifique de prévu, juste de l'exploration, rend difficile de choisir à l'avance ce que j'utiliserai le plus.
Je prévois d'utiliser principalement ma 25 mm pour la photographie de ville, je vais essayer de rester léger pour cela. C'est un choix étrange, mon objectif manuel le moins cher, mais j'adore le vignettage et la douceur de l'objectif. Il crée des images d'aspect vintage que j'aime et la mise au point manuelle m'oblige à prendre plus mon temps.
Pour le reste, je vais devoir décider sur place ce que je vais faire. Même si je peux caser tous mes objectifs dans mon sac photo, j'aimerais rester léger et limiter mes choix d'objectifs pour ne pas changer tout le temps.
Pouvez-vous voyager léger ? Si vous ne deviez emporter qu'un seul objectif en voyage, lequel serait-il ?
Garder son matériel léger et confortable tout en ne s'encombrant pas de trop de choix est une très bonne façon de faire, mais c'est juste difficile de quitter la porte de cette façon. Qu'en pensez-vous ?
