#MyWeeklyGems 21 - Paulo Coehlo - Parenting - Standing Guard - Doodling

Posted Jan 20, 2017 by Mathieu Chiasson

Last Monday was blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. You know what else it was? Another day in your wonderful life. No matter the day of the week, of the month, of the year. We should always strive to make it the best day we can. Don't wish you were in the future or dream you could go back to the past. Today is where things are happening for you, make the most of it.

Quote of the week

"Don't waste your time with explanations: people only hear what they want to hear." Paulo Coelho on Facebook

From my journal

I’ve just finished filling a journal. So I’m starting a new one. What I usually do when I start a new journal is to go through the previous one and compile the best stuff from it in the new one. A sort of review if you like. So here are a few bits from my review…

Jim Rohn: Stand guard at the door of your mind.

This was true when he said it and even more so now. We’re bombarded by information from all around, the world is seeking our attention every second. If you’re not careful with the information that you pay attention to, you’ll end up like Jen Senko’s father in the article I shared last week. Stand guard at the door of your mind and only allow information that will make you grow in!

James Hollis on Parenting Try to be the good enough parent (not perfect, that’s impossible):

  • Support and teach
  • Encourage
  • Live your own journey authentically

Those three points. Not much else I can say, they’re golden.

Darren Hardy: When ever you complete something ask yourself - Is this the best I can do? If not, start over.

It’s definitely not easy to assess your own work but we should keep trying to do our very best all the time.

Tweet of the week

I like the trivial tone of Derren’s tweet. “I’ve been doodling…”

The result doesn’t look anything like doodling to me. It would take me 100 years to “doodle” that! It is, indeed, a very impressive “doodle”.
