Willpower is not needed for success

Posted Mar 22, 2017 by Mathieu Chiasson

Do you need will power to succeed?

The answer is no.

It's a common mistakes for people who struggles to reach their goals to think those who succeed do it because they have willpower.

Willpower demands an enormous amount of energy and anyone will be depleted of willpower energy over time.

People who succeed do so because they have a plan. They use willpower once, to sit down and make a plan before they encounter difficult situations. If you decide in advance what you'll do through your day and how you will react in a difficult situation, you won't have to think about it when you encounter it.

For example, I know before entering the grocery store that I'm not going to go through the chips aisle.

Plan you day, plan your week, plan your month, plan your year.

Without a plan, you'll fall on willpower. And fail.
