3 Life Changing Books Everyone Should ReadPosted Aug 20, 2012 by Mathieu Chiasson
Here's a very very short list of books I think everyone should read. Of course, it is not the only books you have to read and this is my list of books to read now. Next year I'll have a new list, because life is evolving. I think the following three books have one thing in common, they'll all change the way you see life in there very unique way.
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Steve Jobs was a genious. He was not perfect, he was rude, had bad eating habits, was stubburn but his passion for the industry he revolutionized outweigh all his faults. Walter has done a great job in showing his passion and vision to the reader.
People in the computer business should all read and learn from Steve Jobs. His passion for the perfect product in all aspects from design, functionnality, integration and ease of use should motivate all people in the industry to put as much thought in them as he did. Always thinking your product from end to end, seeing it through the eyes of your customers.
Now, what's in it for people with no clue about the computer business? All of the above is also valid in any field. A strong vision and motivation about the things which are important to you. Steve is a genious and there are so many things to take away from his life. The way Walter Isaacson present every aspects of Steve's life makes it easy to transpose what you read to your life.
Every Body Loves You When You're Dead: Journeys into Fame and Madness by Neil Strauss
Every Body Loves You When You're Dead (ELYWYD) is a biography on steroid. Neil Strauss brings us behind the scene with Madonna, Snoop Dog, Marilyn Manson, Lady Gaga, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Tom Cruise and many many many more pop stars. In fact so many I can't list them all. Something like a million interviews. Ok, that's exagerated but think about any pop/rock star and chances are they are featured in this book! Neil has interviewed them all.
You'll be exposed to an unseen side of all these stars, their vulnerability, their vision, their motivation, their stupidity, their craziness. All parts are presented as interviews gathered from all the years Neil spent interviewing stars for the Roling Stone, New York Times and other major publishers. Some of those interviews will make you laugh to the point you'll roll on the floor. Others will inpire you deeply. Others are just plain to bizarre to be explained. Some will surprise you. But for sure you won't want to put this book down once you start it.
Still not convinced you should read this book?
"We might as well have had sex by now." - Lady Gaga
How about now?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
A story filled with inspiration. If you are one of the 4 persons who never read this book, it's time you go pick it up. The Alchemist is a simple story about the journey of a young man on a quest to find his personal treasure.
This book will inspire you. It will motivates to keep going on in life. It will push you to seek what you truly want. It will prompt you to look around you and find ways to make your life a better one, a fulfilled one.
Paulo's story is for everyone. Young and old. It's a short book but don't rush through it. Take time to grasp the power in those simple words.
Pick up this book and find your personal treasure. Seek it. Don't let anyone stops you. Don't loose sight of it. Go ahead and live your life fully!
